designIT was initially conceived to provide IT consulting services to the architecture and design community. But we’ve had a hard time breaking away from our roots in architecture so we do a lot of different things. It all tends to relate to design. And most of it relates to IT in some form or other.

Being familiar with the challenges, we initially focused on helping other architecture and design firms with their technology puzzles. We've branched out and clients now include Caldecott Honor winning artists, contractors, creative strategists, doctors, gift purveyors, graphic designers, photographers, restaurants and retailers.

While we have long focused on business clients, the fact of the matter is, more and more people are bringing a Mac home. And an iPhone. And an iPad. And an Apple TV. And then another Mac. Frankly, while getting all these gizmos to talk to one another isn't all that complicated, most people just don't have the time or inclination. But we do. So get in touch.
For those concerned that we are not local, thanks to the magic of technology, we are able to address most issues from afar. We are based in Seattle but regularly travel back and forth to the northeast. We have clients scattered between the Pacific Northwest and London. Aside from issues where a computer is completely unresponsive, generally we can take care of it from wherever we have an internet connection.
We developed our first site long ago and found that we enjoy it because it comprises many of the aspects of architecture that we love — design, creative peers, client interaction and a rapidly evolving artform. And on the bright side, we don't have to worry about a website falling down. No earthquakes to design around either.

We can also assist other architects with projects on a temporary basis. As the building climate slowly thaws, architects may get more work than current staffing levels can handle, but not enough to justify taking on the expense of full-time staff. We are adept with Vectorworks and can assist on many levels — working drawings, details or modeling. Which brings us to…
Additionally, we offer 3D computer modeling and rendering services. Designers often take it for granted that their clients possess the same knack for understanding spatial relationships that they do. 3D models help to convey space, volume, light and relationships in ways that 2D drawings cannot. A good 3D model can also help alleviate the concerns of neighbors or design review boards.
